Game Day Snack: Beer Cheese Fondue

Most of my friends and family know I am slightly obsessed with kitchen appliances. One appliance that does not get enough love is my fondue pot. A few weekends ago I decided to put it to good use and make a yummy football snack for my husband. I am a big fan of this recipe because it requires very few ingredients and can be ready to serve in about 15 minutes. Definitely give this recipe a try the next time you're hosting a party or just sitting at home watching football.

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2/3 cup amber beer
  • 1 1/2 cup Smoked Gouda, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cup Sharp Cheddar, shredded
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • Salt and pepper
  • Breadsticks, frozen pretzels or baguette 

  1. In a large sauce pan or fondue pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to thicken and gradually whisk in milk until the mixture is smooth and thick. 
  2. Add beer and continue to whisk.
  3. Gradually add cheeses to the mixture. Be sure to allow each cheese to melt before adding the next. 
  4. Lastly, whisk in mustard, Worcestershire, cayenne, salt and pepper.
